BEWARE OF THE GLUG IN WINTER TIME
The oil may float away from the hook slightly. Giving the carp a miss read on your bait from the smell pick up. So although your popped up bait is still at the side of your hook. The oil is at a different position, and shape. Forming eventually a ball, or egg shaped solid detaching itself from the hook. The diagram I’ve drawn. I did a red dye effect for how it would act in the summer months. But come winter the oil is more solid, and leaves the bait more like a blob of oil. Like the ones leaving the hook in diagram.  I’ve since tested this out in cold water conditions, though with a large suck in of the oil by the carp. I believe causes an abnormal movement by the popped up bait nearby, and can even cause a foul hook. (I’m finding this hard to explain what I mean, without showing you’s directly) This is only a theory me, and some mates have come up with. I think your get the gist of what I’m on about. If not let me know, and I’ll try to explain it better.  |
